Take Part In The 70th Wirral Festival Of Music, Speech And Drama March 2019

Take Part In The 70th Wirral Festival Of Music, Speech And Drama March 2019

Calling all amateur budding musicians, poets, actors, instrumentalists, vocalists, choirs, bands and orchestras! Come and help us celebrate our 70th year by taking part in this fantastic festival. We encourage anyone to take part from 6 years old upwards. The more the merrier! The Wirral Festival of Music, Speech and Drama has just published its syllabus for both festival weekends, the Speech and Drama Festival will be held on the 15th and 16th of March 2019 and the Music Festival takes place on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2019. Both Festivals will be held at Birkenhead High School Academy, 86 Devonshire Place, Prenton, Wirral CH43 1TY.

The Wirral Festival has been in existence since 1949 and is part of the wider British Federation of Music, Speech and Drama Festivals. As a committee we are really keen to encourage more and more adults and children to enter the festival from the Wirral area and much further a field to ensure the festival continues to flourish and grow.

There are a huge variety of classes to take part in. In the Music Festival there are classes for solo singers and instrumentalists, bands, orchestras, pop idol, adult and children’s choirs. We added a new singer song writer class last year which proved popular.

The Speech and Drama Festival tends to encourage entries from children but we are very keen to see adults taking part in the open classes. There are classes in solo verse and prose speaking, monologues, duologues and character studies. Last year we introduced a new class called “stand up and entertain us” which was popular. This year we have added musical drama solo classes.

Why take part in a Music, Speech and Drama Festival?

  • It is fun and you will meet like minded people
